Our activities

On this page we will tell you about all the activities we have been involved in this year.

Friendship bangles for Valentine’s Day
(written by Camped)

>

I’m going to tell you about beading work that Mrs B’s class did last term. We made friendship bracelets out of beads with many colours like red, blue, green and lots more. These bracelets are made by the Zulus. The black beads stand for our troubles and the coloured beads stand for the friends that surround us and help us in our troubles. Well, when we were finished we could give them to our friends. With Ulfdav, Kirdup and me there was a big problem because Kirdup wanted to give hers to Ulfdav and also wanted to give hers to me but in the end only Ulfdav and I exchanged bracelets. I must say that everybody had fun making these bracelets. Above you can see a picture of Danvan’s arm showing the bracelets.

Mrs Croesier tells us all about restoring old items (written by Cairai)

>

Not too long ago we had a very interesting day! Mrs B told us that Mrs Croeser was coming to visit. She was coming to show us a 2000 year old pot that had been pulled out of the ground. When the archaeologist pulled it out it shattered so he had to carefully collect all of the little pieces, and he took them to Mrs Croeser to restore. This pot had been used by the Khoi before. When Mrs Croeser had restored it she came to our class to tell us about it and she showed us the pot. We were even allowed to touch it! Just think – we were touching history!

Beaded Bunnies (written by Danvan)

Last term we enjoyed making beaded bunnies. Gaiwhe and I were the teachers for this little project because we were the best at making the bunnies. It was quite hard being the teacher because some of the children were naughty! Here is a picture of Ulfdav with her beaded bunny.

Our Outing to Llandudno Cave near Hout Bay (written by Cairai)

On Tuesday my class went on a walk to the Llandudno Cave. We met our guide called Paddy in the parking lot. On the walk she showed us lots of interesting plants. We saw a frog pond which was all green and ugh…so gross! When we got to the cave we looked down at the beautiful ocean. Wow! After that we all got back in the car and drove off to Hout Bay Beach to swim! The water was absolutely FREEZING! (I couldn’t even feel my body!) Katbut, Gaiwhe and I were the first girls in. That was really fun but eventually it was time to go back to school. I am adding a picture of the girls in the cave and another one of the boys in the cave.

Old relics (written by Davpre)

We did an oral about something old, Hanfir brought a bracelet that looked like gold.
Now I am finished with the rhyming, so let’s get back to the timing.
Sorry! Back to the oral. Like I said, Hanfir brought a bracelet, Ethsey brought a picture of Cheswick, Josstr brought a fuse, and Nalrag brought a brush set. Oh dear, I have run out of time and won’t be able to tell you what I brought.

How to ice a pig! (Written by Desmos)

First we started with a biscuit. Mrs B made the icing then we took a butter knife and put the icing on the biscuit. Then we got jelly tots and had to use only one colour. We put the icing on our biscuit and we took out an Easter egg and put it on the biscuit. We used some small marshmallows for the pig’s nose and then we gave it a tail and eyes. We could eat if we wanted to or we could take it home to show our parents. I ate mine.

I´d like my students to start a collaborative program with students from other schools. We don´t have this experience yet, but I know it has lots of learning advantages. Could you advice me how to start a collaborative program ?

I´m amazed about what you´re doing with your class in this collaborative writing.
